TWB Biographies

Burgess, Thornton W. (1960). Now I Remember: Autobiography of an amateur naturalist. Boston: Little, Brown & Co. [This is the key text at present. While it sheds a great deal of light on his early years, it is more of a memoir than a strict chronological account of his life. It is not indexed.]

Meigs, Frances B. (1998). My Grandfather, Thornton W. Burgess: An intimate portrait. Commonwealth Editions. [Meigs was Burgess's step-granddaughter and spent a lot of time in the Burgess household. She adds some personal details absent from the autobiography, particularly around TWB's problematic relationship with his son.]

Lovell, Russell A., Jr. (1974). The Cape Cod Story of Thornton W. Burgess. Town of Sandwich. [This is a rather rare book with a small print run. It adds details about Burgess's ancestry and early family life as well as great detail about the local environs of his childhood. There are three copies available in the Minuteman Library network.]

Lowrance, Christie Palmer (2013). Nature's Ambassador: The Legacy of Thornton W. Burgess. Schiffer Publishing. See this post.
